I Lost My Teeth

At the end of 2019, I lost my teeth due to a traffic accident. It took me weeks to recover the road rash. During that time, I learned two life lessons. Here is the story on the day my teeth went away and after the loss.

It was a good Friday to ride around the city. Not too hot, yet not raining. I had been a vampire for the last 3 days without letting my skin be exposed to sunlight. So I decided to go out on that day. Before I began my ride, I prepared my room to be cozy when I was home later. I also refuelled the motorcycle so that I could ride for all day. I was in a very happy mood. Then I rode to my first stop at noon.

No foretoken. Only joy. Everything went well until it was only a four-way intersection to arrive at my first stop. Just before the intersection, I had an accident. The moment I felt my body fell to the road, I immediately realized that I LOST MY TEETH!!! 😰

My motorcycle was on the top of me. A young man who rode behind me lifted the motor and put it at the roadside. I sat on the trotoar and one of my teeth started bleeding. I was trembling as my body reacted to the accident, but I kept calm. A woman who was carrying her child came to me and gave a tissue to wipe the blood. She even helped talking to a man who asked for his car damage cost. Her husband and a security guard near that area brought my motorcycle to the safe place. After a while, I was delivered to the nearest hospital by that young man. He waited at the hospital until my friend arrived. I would never forget this part and so grateful to have those passing by the road people helped me.

BTW, it was my very first time being placed in an Emergency (IGD in bahasa) room. All injuries were cleaned, treated, and checked by the medics. Oh, I was able to move very well and could smile and laugh. It was just road rash, except for my teeth… So hard to drink and eat at that time.

Some members of Soka Gakkai Indonesia (SGI) Banten region visitted me immediately after they heard the news. My boss also came to the hospital. They came with a panicked and worried face, while I was smile at them :) and put a joke sometimes. Well, losing teeth and injuries at many part of my body might seemed not good but I was fine inside.

Few hours later, my teeth got a treatment by a dentist. He gave his best so that I could drink and eat, easier but still hard to do. Later, I should come many times as scheduled to have my teeth be normally functioning.

That’s a wrap for the first day.

On the next days, some of my colleagues, friends of SGI, and my aunt and grandma visitted me to cheer me up. They brought me plastics of food, drink, and fruit. Thanks to them, I always had food to eat at anytime! I received lots of love. My mom even sent me face masks and a complementary food from home :‘)

Among them, there was a group of Women Division of SGI visitted me. We did gongyo and chanted daimoku together. I could feel their sincerity to pray for my recovery and I was deeply touched.

The company where I work at, Mobilepulsa, also gave me lots of support during the recovery.
